I had the pleasure to join the ‘LeSS for Executives’ class facilitated by Craig Larman, needless to say, it was a deep learning week for me with plenty of creative ideas generated in just a few days.
We experienced thought-provoking ideas that required us to think slow, dive deeper, and open our minds to really reflect on some of the key observations, insights, and stories we’ve seen or heard across organizations globally.
“Think like a systems thinker… an economist… a psychologist” and dare I say, “a politician”. These were some of the personas we were invited to consider when faced with complex situations within organizations.
We learned largely through doing, listening deeply to real stories and experiences of organizational change. The most impactful parts of the class for me was applying systems modelling which helps us visualise the interactions, influences, and relationships between the parts of a system. By the last day of the class, I saw a spider web of inter-connectedness in the models that we all created together in small focused groups, providing us with meaningful stories on the wall, and strangely most of them making sense.
I highly recommend anyone in the Lean-Agile community and C-Suite Executives in my network to join a class with Craig Larman to learn about Systems Thinking & Organizational Design. You may leave with more thoughtful questions about LeSS, and a huge love for systems thinking.
A huge thank you to my fellow learners Rommel T.Madeleine T.Tamara StirnJuliana C.Elena Aminova, MBA, CTC and others I may have missed.Thank you Gene G. for making it happen 🙂
